Check-in

Check-in operations and requirements vary by airline, do check with your airline ticket or contact your airline for more information.

In general, you can take into account a check-in time of two hours in advance for European and CIS flights and three hours in advance for intercontinental and transatlantic flights. Check-in closes 60 minutes prior to departure.

Online check-in

Depending on your airline, you may be able to check-in online up to 48 hours before your flight.

Tips for a smooth departure

  • Pack all your luggage, including your hand-carried luggage, according to security guidelines. Do remember to check in any liquids, aerosols or gels which are in containers larger than 100ml. You should also keep portable chargers in your hand-carried luggage.
  • The first thing you should do when you arrive at the airport is check the Flight Information Display Screens to find out your airline’s check-in row.
  • Next, approach the check-in counter with your travel documents—valid passport, air ticket or booking confirmation, and visa (if applicable).
  • Before leaving the check-in counter, make sure you’ve been issued the correct boarding pass(es) and that your travel documents are in order.
  • If everything is in order, proceed to Pre-flight Security Check Zone. Say your farewells to relatives and close friends.
  • Just remember to get to your boarding gate early. Check the Flight Information Display Screens within the departure area for updates on your flight and boarding gate. Please note that no boarding calls will be made

Check-in counter

Check-in counters open at least 2 hours before departure time. Ready your valid travel documents - passport, air ticket or booking confirmation and entry visa for final destination (if required). Check in early to enjoy our facilities and services better!

How to drop off your baggage

One of airline or handling company’s employees will place your baggage on the belt, attach baggage labels and give you baggage tag.

If you don’t have anything that must be declared, proceed directly via green channel to meet & greet area.

Tips for a smooth departure

  • Detailed information regarding items (currency, tobacco, alcohol, antique, animals and etc) that must be declared or prohibited to import in Azerbaijan you can find at web-site of State Customs Committee of Republic of Azerbaijan.

Free import by persons of 16 years and older:

  • 200 cigarettes;
  • 1,5 liters of alcoholic beverages;
  • a reasonable quantity of perfume for personal use;
  • goods up to an amount of USD 1,500.- for personal use only (if being younger than 16 years: up to an amount of USD 500.-);
  • personal effects (must be declared on arrival): 20 grams of gold or 0,5 carat diamond fixed in jewellery goods, other precious metals and jewellery: up to USD 1,500.-;
  • up to 30 kilograms food and 125 grams caviar (per month).

Currency Export regulations

Residents:
  • Local currency (New Azeri Manat-AZN): no restrictions if the amount is declared on departure.
  • Foreign currencies: max. USD 10,000.- (or equivalent). Amounts higher than USD 10,000.- have to be approved by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
Pets
  • Cats, dogs and birds must be accompanied by a veterinarian health certificate with seal and not be issued over ten days prior to arrival.

Notes
  • If you have anything that must be declared, please approach to Customs Desk on departure to declare it.
  • Prohibited: Arms, ammunition, precious metals (gold, silver, etc.) and articles made thereof (also if containing precious stones and/or real pearls), antiquities and art objects (subject to duty and special permit from the ministry of culture), furs.
  • Except if such articles belong to the imported personal effects of the passenger (e.g. personal jewelry) and have been declared upon arrival.

Pre-flight security check

Please prepare your passport and boarding pass for inspection when you enter security zone. You are required to undergo security screening and have your hand-carried luggage x-rayed.

Liquids, aerosols & gels in a plastic bag

You must put all your liquids and gels in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag (no larger than 20cm x 20cm). Limit of 1 plastic bag per passenger applies. Ask Security staff to provide you the plastic bag.

You may bring liquids and gels on-board for your personal care, but each container cannot hold more than 100-ml. They must not exceed a combined volume of 1-litre. Please note that a half-full 200-ml bottle still counts as 200-ml.

You can take with you a reasonable supply of dietetic foods, or medicines. Therefore, please bring a prescription for your medicine (the prescription must be released on English, Azerbaijan or Russian languages).

Remove your electronic devices from your bag

Phones, laptops, tablets and e-readers must be temporarily removed from your hand baggage. You must put them in a tray on the conveyor, along with your wallet, watch, belt, keys and pocket items.

Remove your outer wear

Please take off your outer wear - jacket, sweater, coat, hat and high-cut footwear and put them in a tray on the conveyor please put them in a tray on the conveyor.

Place your hand-carried luggage onto the conveyor belt. Don’t take any hazardous items with you

Most items are allowed in your hand baggage, except those on the list of hazardous items. Some items, like sharp or pointed objects, are only allowed to carry in your hold baggage.

Passport control & immigration

You will go through passport control immediately after completing the security check. Make sure you check that your identity card, passport and visa (if required) are still valid before you travel. Please remember that some countries require several months’ validity in your passport from the time you enter the country concerned.

Please have your passport ready and approach to the relevant counter marked Azerbaijan Citizens, Foreign Citizens or Diplomatic Passports for outbound passport control procedures.

Board your flight

Following the departure procedure, go through the duty-free shop area to the boarding gates indicated on your boarding pass or at terminal screens. Have a nice flight and see you again.
