Baku, Nakhchivan and Ganja airports served more than 5.7 million passengers in 8 months

From January to August 2026, Baku, Nakhchivan and Ganja airports collectively served more than 5.7 million passengers and handled more than 46 thousand flights. Total passenger traffic across the three airports remained at the level of the same period in 2025, while the number of flights increased by 1.5%.

Most of the passenger traffic was handled by Heydar Aliyev International Airport. From January to August 2026, Baku Airport served more than 4.9 million passengers and handled 39,525 flights.

The most notable dynamics at Baku Airport were recorded in the transfer passenger segment. From January to August, the number of transfer passengers reached 373,733, representing a 34% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

The highest daily passenger figure for the first eight months of the year was recorded on 15 August 2026. On that day, Heydar Aliyev International Airport served 31,360 passengers and handled 233 flights.

Growth also continued at the regional airports. Nakhchivan International Airport served 574 thousand passengers from January to August 2026. This figure increased by 12.7% compared with the same period in 2025. During the same period, 5,692 flights were handled at the airport, with the number of flights increasing by 11.7% year-on-year.

At Ganja International Airport, 147 thousand passengers were served, and 1,107 flights were handled during the first eight months of 2026. Compared with January–August 2025, passenger numbers increased by 4.9%, while the number of flights rose by 2.1%.

Against the backdrop of ongoing geopolitical uncertainty in the region and changes affecting air transport, the fact that total passenger traffic remained at the level of the same period in 2025, while growth continued in transfer and regional traffic, demonstrates the resilience of passenger demand.
