Guide for Passengers with Invisible Disabilities (International Departures)

Heydar Aliyev International Airport supports passengers with invisible (hidden) disabilities, including cognitive, neurological, mental health, and autism-spectrum conditions. These disabilities may not be immediately visible, but passengers may require additional understanding, time, or assistance during airport procedures.

Identification and lanyards (Departures)

Passengers with invisible disabilities may request a special identification lanyard to discreetly indicate that they may require assistance during airport processes.

Where to obtain a lanyard

Terminal 1

  • Lanyards are available at the Salam Service desks located at Zone A and Zone B entrances, before security screening

Terminal 2 North

  • Lanyards are available at the Information Counter located at entrance on the ground floor

Eligibility and verification

  • Lanyards are issued after verification of an identification document
  • Identification may be issued by local or foreign legal authorities
  • Verification is conducted by authorized airport or service staff

The lanyard is a voluntary support tool and helps staff identify passengers who may need additional assistance.

How the lanyard is used

Once wearing the lanyard:

  • Airport, security, immigration, and ground handling staff can recognize the passenger discreetly
  • Passengers may be provided with:
    • Clear and simple explanations
    • Additional time during procedures
    • Priority or separate processing where operationally possible

The lanyard does not replace travel documents and does not guarantee priority but enables staff to provide appropriate support.
